Indications for laser blepharoplasty
Laser blepharoplasty is suitable for both men and women who have:
- Sagging upper eyelids that create a “heavy-eyed” look
- Bags and dark circles under the eyes
- Excess skin in the eyelid area
- Age-related loss of skin tone
- A desire to change the shape of the eyes or make them look more expressive
What does the procedure involve?
Laser blepharoplasty is performed under local anaesthesia. Using a laser beam, the surgeon makes fine incisions through which excess skin and fatty tissue are removed.
- At the same time, the laser coagulates the blood vessels, which minimises bleeding and reduces the risk of haematomas (bruising).
- The whole procedure takes approximately 1–2 hours, depending on its extent.
- The laser makes it possible to perform the procedure with exceptional precision, which guarantees a natural result.
Recovery and aftercare
After the procedure, there may be mild swelling and redness, which subside within a few days. Patients are advised to:
- Avoid physical exertion for at least 7–10 days
- Avoid using cosmetics around the eyes for 1–2 weeks
- Avoid direct sunlight and wear sunglasses
- Follow the doctor's instructions on skin care
Full recovery takes approximately 2–3 weeks.
Results of laser blepharoplasty
The results of laser blepharoplasty are natural and long-lasting:
-
The eyes look more open and younger
-
The eyelid skin is firm and supple
-
The effect lasts for many years, especially with proper skin care
Comparison: laser blepharoplasty vs. conventional blepharoplasty
| Parameter | Laser blepharoplasty | Conventional blepharoplasty |
|---|---|---|
| Type of procedure | Minimally invasive | Surgical procedure (scalpel) |
| Healing time | Shorter (approx. 2–3 weeks) | Longer (3–6 weeks) |
| Precision | High – the laser beam allows precise incisions | Lower – manual incision with a scalpel |
| Swelling and bruising | Less, thanks to laser coagulation of blood vessels | Higher risk of swelling and haematomas |
| Scar visibility | Almost invisible | Fine scars possible |
| Collagen stimulation | Yes – improves skin condition | No – no collagen stimulation |
| Duration of the procedure | 1–2 hours | 1–2 hours |
| Result | Natural, fresh appearance | Natural, but with possible visible scarring |
